Wow, the design industry is sometimes so snobby about “faux,” we were kind of surprised to see this article (and the gorgeous photos that go along with it) on Houzz.com, the leading online platform for home remodeling and design. Based in Palo Alto, Houzz is a design juggernaut that appeals to professionals and homeowner alike for its stylish submissions and inspirational ideabooks. (Click for the Houzz galery)
But artificial grass? For real?
Actually the article not only shows how attractive synthetic turf can be, it illustrates what a sensible solution it can be for many landscaping issues, offering a thought-provoking list of pros and cons. And it provides objective analysis of environmental, economic and carbon footprint considerations.
Where you’ll really be convinced, though, is through the photos. Not staged shots, these are actual, installed solutions that prove that artificial grass has a place in a range of styles and setting, where it can be sophisticated or playful, traditional or contemporary, practical or avant-garde.
It also proves that artificial grass provokes strong opinion, for and against. The last time I checked, the article had more than 150 comments! But almost everyone loved the photos.
